Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

Dream Big Kids is a local affiliate for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Together we provide one book a month to children in Huffman, TX from birth to age five. These engaging, high-quality books, are mailed directly to the child at no cost to the families.

Created in 1995, The Dollywood Foundation launched Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to inspire a love of reading and learning in children. Dolly wanted to share her life and legacy as an inspiration to all children to “Dream More, Learn More, Care More and Be More.”

Children must be registered by a parent or guardian in order to receive the books.  To register a child, click on the “Register a Child” button below. It will open a new page at the Dolly Parton Imagination Library website. If you have any questions, you can contact us at the email listed at the bottom of this page.

Owning Books Matters

When children have a home library, as few as 20 books of their own, they achieve three more years of schooling than children who don’t have any books at home.

Reading Daily Adds Up

Read 20 minutes a day, and you’ll read 1,800,000 words per year.

All Those Words Pay Off

Children who read 1,000,000 words a year are in the top two percent of reading achievement.

Every Book Counts

If you read just one book a day to a child they will have read 1825 books by their fifth birthday.

Reading is the fastest way to build vocabulary.

Never too Early to Read to a Child

Toddlers who are being read to have been shown to be almost one year ahead in mental development compared to children of the same age who haven’t.
